Balance of the collection originally formed by Joseph Mahfood, 49 folded letters or covers in the 1779-1878 period, neatly mounted in two Frank Godden albums with slipcases, either domestic or United Kingdom uses, scarcer straightline handstamps incl. Carendon, Falmouth, Goshen, Montego Bay, Port Maria and Spanish Town, various fleuron postmarks, red ms. Green Pond, small town circular datestamps, other postmarks incl. Ship Letter/Jamaica, Too Late, "6" postage due handstamp, etc., most with typed transcripts of letter, Fine-Very Fine

1053   JAMAICA, The Numeral Obliterations Collection Formed by Joseph Mahfood. Thousands of Queen Victoria stamps and over twenty covers or cards, neatly mounted in nine Frank Godden albums with slipcases, arranged in ascending code order, staring with "A01" and ending with "E", then within each code by stamp denomination and watermark, plus Officials and Postal Fiscals, in addition there are scarce stamps varieties, such as the "$" for "S", inverted watermarks and one bisect use, an attempt was made to get as many different stamps on each obliterator code, there are many scarce or rare numbers, incl. some unrecorded in the literature, such as blue "A52" and "199"of Guys Hill, several others have only two or three recorded, mixed condition as would be expected, this is probably the most comprehensive study of these cancels ever formed and it would take decades of painstaking work to duplicate, included in the lot is a complete inventory
