Sep. 21, 1861” circular datestamp on Confederate States of America, Quartermaster's Department corner card cover to Newnan Ga., forwarded to Savannah Ga. with "Due 5" in oval and in manuscript for forwarding postage, charge box notation at upper left, accompanied by original signed enclosure on Quartermaster's Department stationery (with 1856 watermark) authorizing the mustering of six companies under Col. W.H. Stiles' Regiment (60th Georgia, Gordon's Brigade, Jubal Early's Division, 2nd Corps, Army of Northern Virginia), repaired tear at top left

VERY FINE APPEARANCE. A RARE EXAMPLE OF THE MONTGOMERY, ALABAMA, POSTMASTER'S PROVISIONAL ON A FORWARDED SEMI-OFFICIAL IMPRINT COVER.
