French Offices in Egypt thru Germany and Offices Abroad
Lot Sym. Lot Description
662 ogbl ImageFRANCE, OFFICES IN EGYPT, Alexandria, 1921, 2m on 5c - 15m on 50c Surcharges (31/40; Yvert 35/46). Nine complete press sheets, each with full selvage and comprising of six panes of 25 stamps each with the exception of the 15m on 50c which is three panes of 25, incl. the surcharged values of 2m, 4m, 5m on 1c and the scarce Slate shade (only 1,500 stamps surcharged), 6m-10m, 12m on Grayish paper and 15m on 50c, wonderfully fresh series of press sheets, some splitting to be expected, No. 34 with some tone spots mainly confined to one pane, vast majority of the stamps Mint N.H. with surprisingly few hinge reinforcements

FINE-VERY FINE. A SCARCE SERIES OF PRESS SHEETS OF THE FRENCH OFFICES IN ALEXANDRIA 1921 LOCALLY SURCHARGED ISSUE. THERE IS A HIGH PROBABILITY THAT THESE SHEETS ARE UNIQUE.

The Scott Retail for these sheets is $20,512.50 as hinged and $28,725.00 for Mint N.H. The latter value is a better reflection of this lot. This does not take into account any varieties (such as pos. 58 of the 12m on 30c showing "Mili." instead of "Mill."), premiums for sheets or millesimes pairs. (Image)
