FINE. AN ENORMOUSLY RARE EXAMPLE OF THE $1.00 STATISTICAL DEPARTMENT "REPUBLIC" WITH INVERTED OVERPRINT. NO MORE THAN A DOZEN EXAMPLES ARE BELIEVED TO EXIST. A RARITY OF CHINESE PHILATELY.

From census' undertaken with known examples, all appear to be used on the same day -- June 17, 1912 (1st year) in Canton. Some examples are not legible enough to read completely but are still believed to originate on this same day. Current estimates indicate that between 9-11 examples are known. (Image)
