CANAL ZONE, 1907, 1c Green & Black, Inverted Center, Ovpt. Reading Up (22g). Light strike of town datestamp, almost perfectly centered, rich colors

EXTREMELY FINE. A RARE USED EXAMPLE OF THE 1907 INVERTED BALBOA ERROR. ONLY THIRTEEN USED COPIES ARE RECORDED.

According to Canal Zone Stamps, one pane of 100 was printed. It was sold in March 1909 to the Panama Railroad Co. and all but 22 copies were used before the error was discovered. Only about thirteen used copies were recovered after the error was noticed.

CANAL ZONE, 1924, 5c-1b Coat of Arms (69 var). Seven stamps representing the complete set of the unissued Coat of Arms values above the 2c, tropicalized original gum, bright colors, nice margins and centering, Very Fine and scarce set, these were prepared but never issued as the use of overprinted U.S. stamps began in April 1925, 600 sets were sent to the Director General of Posts of Panama, ostensibly for transmission to the UPU in Switzerland, a small number of sets ended up in the hands of dealers, the balance of the supply was destroyed in 1937, ex Diamond (Image)
