2481   Confederate States Currency Collection, 1861-64. Extensive collection of more than 300 items, including Confederate States of America notes, individual Southern States notes, plus local, bank and business notes, many better items (see below for highlights), collection covers most issues after the extremely rare Montgomery, plus a few miscellaneous items incl. three 1928 U.S. Gold Certificates and 50c 1937 Antietam coin (PCGS MS-65, retail value of this item alone more than $750), mixed condition as would be expected with some repairs and no doubt a few counterfeits as well, but many fresh and Very Fine notes to be found including in the better issues

AN ATTRACTIVE AND VALUABLE COLLECTION OF CONFEDERATE STATES CURRENCY FROM THE ESTATE OF FRANKLIN FREEMAN.

Some of the better items include two 1861 Written Dates -- $100.00 Type 5 and $50.00 Type 6, 1861 Types 16, 17 (five incl. the rare without "For"), 19, 21 (three), 24, 25, 26 (three, one defective), the rare Type 27 ("Ab", serial no. 1379, corner repair), 29, 31, 33, 34, 37 (three), 1862 Types 41 (three), 43, 50, others from 1863, 1864 Types 64 and 65 (two). Most of the more common issues are also represented, some in quantity (more than 90 of Type 36). A number of scarce to rare items will also be found in the more than 90 state and local issue notes.
