203 c Image5c Green, Stone 1-2 (1). Full margins to just in at left, tied by "Pensacola Fla. 24 ---" (1861) circular datestamp on buff cover to Decatur Ga. with red and blue "Georgia Battery 5th Ga. Reg.", 11-Star Confederate Flag and Tent Patriotic design (TF-1), "Reynolds Atlanta Ga." imprint, manuscript "Paid 5", stamp with light corner crease, slightly reduced at left barely into design

VERY FINE AND HIGHLY EXHIBITABLE EARLY REGIMENTAL PATRIOTIC COVER FROM PENSACOLA, FLORIDA. AN OUTSTANDING CONFEDERATE PATRIOTIC DESIGN.

The 5th Georgia Regiment was in Pensacola in late 1861 and was moved to Knoxville in early 1862. Therefore this must be an 1861 use. Decatur is less than 500 miles from Pensacola so the "Paid 5" is probably a restatement of the postage paid rather than an additional 5c. (Image)
