2405 c ImageCHINA, 1880s U.S. Consulate in Hankow, China Correspondence to United States. Group of seven scarce covers addressed to "Hon. Calvin Shepard" (one to a "Harriet F. Shepard") in South Boston, Mass, all originating at the U.S. Consulate in Hankow, China on printed corner covers with receiving a transit "U.S. Postal Agency, Shanghai", "Yokohama/Paid All" and San Francisco transit circular datestamps, each affixed with Japanese stamps incl. the 1875 10s Cherry Blossom and 1876-77 and 1883 5s Koban, covers with faults such as the typical peripheral faults endemic to these covers incl. two roughly opened and another with a stamp missing (large legal envelope), Fine, these examples originate from a new find and offered for the first time at auction making for a special opportunity to acquire this correspondence intact, For complete scans (1.0mb) of this lot, go to http://www.siegelauctions.com/2014/1086/pdf/2405.pdf (Image)
