54 E Image3c Z. Grill, Thorp Patent Experimental Trial Color Essays on Tinted Papers (85C-E2 var). Group of more than 30 items, 12 are Z Grill essays in a variety of papers and colors, also a nice group of 3c paper and ink essays, some of these very similar to the Z Grill essays but without the grill, varieties incl. an 1861 First Design essay, imperforate essay paper pair, also couple all-over grill essays and a few proofs, a few minor flaws to be found but overall Fine-Very Fine and an interesting group, for some reason the Scott Catalogue lists the 12c Z Grill essays (as 85-E1) but no longer lists the 3c, which are of the same nature (Image)
