VERY FINE. AN EXTREMELY RARE USE OF THE BROWNE & CO. ONE-CENT STAMP TIED ON A LOCALLY-ADDRESSED COVER.

Although Lyons records 33 1c Browne & Co. covers, the 1c is much rarer used alone on a local Cincinnati cover versus to-the-mails outbound usage. Lyons records only three such covers, plus one local cover with three uncancelled 1c stamps (The Penny Post, July 2004).

EXTREMELY FINE. ONE OF THE FINEST OF THE FEW SURVIVING SHEETS OF THE 25-CENT RED VIRGINIA CITY PONY EXPRESS STAMP. A MAGNIFICENT EXHIBITION ITEM.

We have offered only two other complete sheets of 143L9 in our auctions since 2000: 1) sheet with stains and other faults (2003 Fall Rarities sale); and 2) ex Hall and Twigg-Smith sheet which last realized $12,500.00 hammer in 2009. This sheet is equal to the Hall sheet in terms of condition.
