A Portion of The Wade Saadi Struck on Stamps Collection continued...

12c-24c 1857-60 Issue (Scott 36-37)
Lot Sym. Lot Description
607   Image12c Black, Plate 1 (36). Well-balanced margins, cancelled by bold strike of green circular grid of small squares and rectangles

VERY FINE AND CHOICE. AN INCALCULABLY RARE EXAMPLE OF THE 12-CENT 1857 ISSUE FROM PLATE ONE WITH A GREEN CANCEL. THIS IS THE FIRST WE HAVE OFFERED SINCE KEEPING COMPUTERIZED RECORDS.

The cancel on this stamp is a true green color, not bluish-green or an adulterated green ink. The cancel's unusual configuration and distinctive green color make this 12c 1857 stamp one of the most striking we have ever encountered.

With 1994 P.F. certificate (Image)
