Fancy Cancellations Featuring the Dr. Robertson Collection, cont. continued...
Lot Sym. Lot Description
1512 c Corry Pa. Fancy Cancellations. The balance of Dr. Robertson's collection and exhibit, comprising 40 covers and two stamps mounted on pages, includes several pre-1866 covers with stamps cancelled by datestamp or standard killers, the "fancy" period begins with an Unusual Circle of Tiny Wedges in 8-Point Star, numerous examples of Eagle & Shield (different types with 6, 4 and 3-bar shield), Woman in Headdress on 3c Pink entire, "Happy" Pumpkin, "Scared" Pumpkin, Pumpkin with Triangular Nose, and Piggy off cover (No. 147), some of the strikes are from very worn devices (shown in that form for study purposes), some of the stamps and covers are in faulty condition (if they weren't, they'd be individual lots), but there are many collectible and scarce items in this group, of great value to the collector who wishes to buy, cherry pick and sell off unwanted duplicates -- likewise of great value to the reseller who needs this scarce material to meet the great demand for fancy cancels
