Pkt. 21 May 24" debit datestamp, crossed out and rated "12" due, usual faults for a shipwreck cover, still Fine, very scarce, the Peninsular & Oriental Line's Ava left Calcutta on Feb. 10, 1858, with British military officers on board, she stopped at Madras to pick up a cargo of treasure, on Feb. 16 off the coast of Ceylon she struck rocks and sank after the passengers were safely unloaded, the specie and mail were later recovered (Image)
