Bold strike of boxed datestamp, red Edinburgh paid datestamp and "1/2" prepaid rate on folded letter to Detroit, identified by sender as "Canada", carried on the Cunarder Cambria to Halifax, slightly toned file fold, Very Fine and fascinating use, the Retaliatory Rate period ongoing in the U.S. at this time prevented the letter from being sent via Boston in a closed bag, from Halifax it was sent via London Ontario and Windsor, backstamps trace the route with arrival at Windsor on July 4, this route avoided the U.S. Retaliatory Rate but took longer and probably required the recipient to collect the letter in Windsor (Image)
