2256 c Image10c Milky Blue, "TEN" (9a). Ample margins to slightly in, bright pastel shade, cancelled by two pen strokes, matching "Chickamauga Ten July 12" army field office manuscript postmark on oatmeal homemade cover to Jefferson S.C. from A. W. Thompson with letter datelined "Chattanooga Tenn. July 12th/63" to his parents, excellent content with news of military engagements, "Bragg taken to stand to fight Rosenkranz (who) would flank around him (Bragg) and we was obliged to fall back on Chatanoog during the fight... I am sorry to hear the fall of Vicksburg...", the postmark is faint but we read it as "Chickamauga", reduced at left, slight wear, still Fine, an extremely rare use of the 10c "TEN" with this manuscript Army of Tennessee postmark, used prior to the fall of Chattanooga on Sep. 8, 1863 -- a rare cover from the Thompson correspondence (Image)
