Jan. 27, 7AM 1894" circular datestamp on registered Charles Ilfeld's Ladies' Boot illustrated advertising cover to Westfalen, Germany, transit and receiving backstamps, stamp with small corner crease at lower right, Very Fine appearance, a rare use of the 50c Columbian from New Mexico Territory on an illustrated cover, this correspondence is discussed in Dr. Searing's article in Chronicle 152 (pp. 270-271), the German-Jewish Ilfeld family provided examples of the Columbian stamps through the $4.00 on mail to friends and family in Germany, there is extensive biographical information on the Ilfelds available through internet sources (Image)
