VERY FINE. A RARE USE OF THE 15-CENT TYPE I ON A REGISTERED COVER. THIS IS ALSO ONE OF ONLY THREE EXAMPLES OF THE 15-CENT TYPE I USED IN TEXAS.

The 1869 Census book records only three examples of the 15c Type I used in Texas, including two from Gonzales and one from Marshall. The book also records only 20 registered covers with the 15c Type I.

VERY FINE. THIS IS THE ONLY RECORDED TERRITORIAL USE OF THE 24-CENT 1869 PICTORIAL ISSUE.

The 24c stamp pays the 15c registry fee plus the triple 3c domestic rate. The 1869 Census book records 23 domestic uses of this issue -- this is the only one from a territory. All others were used from states.
