Lull in Wetumpka Ala., manuscript "care" of markings for agents in Wilmington and Wetumpka at top and bottom, tiny erosion hole at top, Very Fine and scarce, carried on the Advance from Bermuda, Special Routes census no. Narrow cover addressed to Henry Richardson, Merchant's & Mechanics Bank in Troy N.Y., "Steamship 10" due handstamp struck upon arrival in New York City, back with manuscript "Forwarded by Raphael Perez Sta. Ma(ria). -- Havana", enclosed letter datelined "Mobile Ala. Feb. 11, 1863" and mentions how to send mail back to Mobile by way of Havana as well as several forwarding agents, couple minor edge tears, Very Fine, a rare blockade use sent through Havana to New York, the Special Routes census records only 15 outbound covers from the C.S.A. sent through Havana, accompanied by a second cover from the same correspondence which is almost identical but without the Havana notation on back, Special Routes census no. Singles 10c Blue Dies A & B (11, 12), ample to large margins, one with gum soaks, tied by indistinct strike of Mobile Ala. double-circle datestamp on what is almost certainly a blockade-run cover originating in Havana, Cuba, addressed to "Emile Le Blanc, Columbus Miss." and "Care of J. B. DeBow", no enclosure or other markings to definitively tie the cover to Havana or to incoming blockade use, however this is a close match to other covers known from this correspondence which originate in Havana and are sent through the care of DeBow (Image)
