Bold strike of integral-rate circular datestamp with "10 Havana" inverted on folded letter from Matanzas, Cuba, to New York, blue "1" reale for internal Cuba rate, matching double-circle datestamp, sender's directive "Ocean Bird" at top but carried on the Isabel, this missed getting to Havana in time to make the Ocean Bird, which made the run from New Orleans to New York via Havana, Very Fine, only four examples are recorded with the "10 Havana" inverted (Image)

Light strike of blue circular datestamp with matching "HAVANA" straightline handstamp and "10" rate on blue folded letter from a sugar mill in Cuba to Erie Pa. and forwarded to the postmaster at Cleveland O., "Erie Pa. Nov. 21" circular datestamp and matching "FREE" handstamp, some slight wear, still Very Fine, scarce and unusual use, this was originally marked 10c due from recipient but was changed to free when forwarded to a postmaster, very few pieces of mail were sent free from Cuba, this "HAVANA" straightline is also rare with only seven recorded (four in blue), illustrated and described in Chronicle 201, pp. 69-70 (Image)

Quaker City", pencil "60" rate, carried on the Isabel which departed two days before the Quaker City, some wrinkling, Very Fine, this is the highest rate known on a steamship cover sent from Cuba via Charleston or Savannah, this likely contained several letters to be sent onwards, the recipient is a well-known forwarder, illustrated and described in Chronicle 201, pp. 69-70, his "HAVANA" straightline is rare with only seven recorded (three in black) (Image)
