Jun. 22, 1886 6:30 PM" duplex on "Creation's Carnival, The Great Forepaugh Show" illustrated cover with gold background around portrait to Danbury Conn., receiving backstamp, some slight wear, Very Fine, Forepaugh was born into poverty but made a fortune selling horses to the U.S. government during the Civil War, he operated a circus under various names from 1865-90, in the 1880's his was second in size only to P. T. Barnum's circus and the two signed several truces to avoid competing in the same venues (Image)
