1171 c The Pitt Petri Collection of Western New York Town Markings. Large collection mounted in 27 binders, probably over 1,000 covers, organized by county and town with lists of postmasters typed at top, covers range from stampless incl. some from early through late 1800's and a smattering later, wonderful range of markings incl. manuscript, some straightlines incl. "Bucktooth N.Y." (with 3c 1857, unlisted in ASCC), a number of early Niagara and Niagara Falls straightlines, others with handstamped ovals and boxed, preponderance of circular datestamps of course, a few better markings incl. a scarce type Canadian cross-border scroll in red, many others, overall an interesting and worthwhile collection, this was assembled by Mr. Petri until the late 1960's, as such none of these covers has seen the light of day in more than 40 years
