EXTREMELY FINE. A SPECTACULAR BLOCK OF 30 OF THE 30-CENT 1861 ISSUE CARD PROOFS FROM THE LILLY SHEETS, COMPRISING THE TOP THREE ROWS OF THE LEFT PANE.
The Siegel firm auctioned the Lilly India and card proof sheets in September 1967. One set of panes remains complete in a private collection. The other panes were broken up, and this top block of 30 originates from those panes.

EXTREMELY FINE. A GORGEOUS BLOCK OF 30 OF THE 90-CENT 1861 ISSUE CARD PROOFS FROM THE LILLY SHEETS, COMPRISING THE TOP THREE ROWS OF THE RIGHT PANE.
VERY FINE APPEARANCE. AN EXTREMELY RARE LARGE DIE TRIAL COLOR PROOF OF THE 1861 BLACK JACK ISSUE.
Of the 2c Black Jack large die trial color proofs, no more than two examples of each color have been recorded. All known examples show the "star on cheek" die flaw. The rarity of these proofs is further demonstrated by the fact that none was contained in the classic Allen, Brazer or Rorke collections. The largest offering, from our auction of the Finkelburg collection (Sale 816), was purchased from John A. Klemann in 1936. We have not offered another in more than 10 years (Image)
