EXTREMELY FINE GEM. A TRULY RARE STAMP COMBINING PERFECT CENTERING, VIVID COLOR AND A SPECTACULAR FANCY CANCEL.

With 2008 P.S.E. certificate as a "blue" star which it is not (Superb 98, SMQ $960.00 as ordinary cancel), this is the highest graded example and one of only two 98's in the P.S.E. Population Report. We are confident in saying that we have encountered no other used example of this issue that is the equal to this spectacular stamp (Image)

Beautifully centered with wide margins, vivid color, circular cancel, Extremely Fine Gem example of this overlooked watermark variety, seldom offered and impossible to find in superb used condition, with 2011 P.F. and 2009 P.S.E. certificates (XF-Superb 95, SMQ $450.00), we do not know why this issue is priced at only 1.5x the normal Horizontal Watermark issue in SMQ, as there are five stamps of Scott 283 that grade 95 or better and only this single example of 283a at 95, Scott Retail for 283a is also double that for 283 (Image)
