VERY FINE APPEARING EXAMPLE OF THE RARE SCHEETZ'S 4-CENT IMPERFORATE ISSUE.

Of the nine examples recorded in the Aldrich census, four are faulty. This example, with minor creases, is one of the finest.

VERY FINE AND CHOICE ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF SCHENCK'S MANDRAKE PILLS ONE-CENT PERFORATED ON WATERMARKED PAPER.

2,479,000 of the 1ct Mandrake Pills stamps were issued on Old Paper, 27,000 of which were perforated. 3,439,827 were issued on Silk Paper, and 1,266,827 were issued on Pink and Watermarked papers, most of which were imperforate. This stamp on Watermarked paper with perforations is exceedingly rare. The Joyce collection apparently did not contain an example.

E. Schwartz and other proprietary issues was used on a number of obsolete bank notes of the period, as well as the U.S. Carrier Issue Scott LO2 (Image)

The Boston Revenue Book reports that only one sheet was issued. Only 17 are recorded in the Aldrich census and over half are faulty. This example with only a tiny thin speck is quite desirable. (Image)
