EXTREMELY FINE. AN OUTSTANDING PAIR OF THE 10-CENT 1847 ON A DOUBLE-RATE COVER TO NEW ORLEANS.

The pair on this letter paid the postage for distance over 300 miles and weight over one-half ounce. Examples of 10c 1847 pairs on cover are more typically found used from Boston to Philadelphia (Ludlow Beebe correspondence). This southbound cover to New Orleans is extremely scarce.
