1412 c ImageWreck and Crash Covers 1886-1974. Six covers, incl. from Edinburgh to Austin Ill. with label on back "P.O. New York, N.Y. July 6th, 1886. This piece of mail forwarded from Queenstown, Ireland, per steamer Oregon on march 7th and damaged by the sinking of that vessel off Fire Island on March 14th. Recovered from the wreck July 1-4." (stamps floated off), also 1926 Mendota Minn. Elmes Patridge First Flight, 1933 Toledo O. Nicholas Laurenzana (burned), 1936 Ventura Cal. Western Air Express, 1959 New York American Airlines, and 1974 Nairobi Lufthansa 747, damaged obviously, fascinating group (Image)

V multiples on covers, several interesting odds and ends incl. 1844 letter from Boscawan Postmaster Worcester Webster (creator of the unique provisional), used Mulready Lettersheet with Maltese Cross cancel, uncut sheet of four $10.00 Canal Bank obsolete banknotes with Washington and Franklin engravings used on 1851 Issue (toned), also "Boston Mass. Jan. 2, 1895" Eagle and Thunderbolt Machine Cancel on R.P.O. slip labeled "papers", used for only one day in 1895, mixed condition, overall Fine and interesting group

(now West Va.) to Ohio, with content (water staining), C.S.A. No. 11 on insurance illustrated cover, "Fashionable Furniture" dealer's blue cameo corner card from Cincinnati to Paris (rebacked), few others, the later incl. No. 561 First Day, some flaws to be expected but overall Fine-Very Fine appearance
