Dromgoole, in Washington D.C., Very Fine. The type III c.d.s. in red is not previously recorded with a "FREE" handstamp.

Dromgoole served on the U.S. House of Representatives from 1835 to 1841 and again from 1843 until his death on April 27, 1847. Because the c.d.s. was in use from 1835 to 1851, this usage could be either Territorial or Statehood

Briggs' illustrated example (p. 63) and the later of only two recorded., Ex-Jarrett.

Letter is from David L. White, Apalachicola's Town Collector, relating that "Our town has been in part recently destroyed by fire, and the records and papers of the County of Franklin were consumed…". He requests to redo formal "Bonds" with various city and county officials.

Mills, with a manuscript "Ship 6"; at St. Augustine the the "6" was changed to "27" - the contract ship rate - and the cover was forwarded to Philadelphia, Very Fine. A most unusual cover showing both the 6 and 27 cent ship rates.
