This cover was prepared by J. Murray Bartels, whose "702 14th St." return address is just visible below the 1¢ stamp, Ex-McCoy, Harter, "World's Fair Collection", with 1987 & 2013 P.F. certificates.

A UNIQUE FIRST DAY COVER AND ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL RECORDED COMMEMORATIVE FIRST DAY COVERS.

The Trans-Miss. Exhibition opened in Omaha, Nebr. on June 1, but the stamps were not ready in time for the opening. They were first placed on sale in Washington D.C. and New York City on June 17, but were not available at the exhibition in Omaha until June 23. Covers are reported to have been seen from Harrisburg, Pa. dated as early as June 14.
