337 St. L04-09 image"GENERAL DELIVERY…EXPOSITION STA.…" handstamp (Bomar St. L04-09), purple Jul 18, 1904 strike on a 1¢ McKinley postal card canceled Urbana, O., Jun 28 and to the Missouri State Building at the Fair with a normal St. Louis receiver on Jun 30; the message requests that the card be returned to West Liberty, O., but the sender left off his name and, accordingly, the card was sent to General Delivery at the Fair on Jul 18 and then to the St. Louis Dead Letter Office on Jul 19; a bit worn, but a fascinating usage of this exceedingly rare marking, Fine fine as one might expect for this well-travelled item. According to Bomar, as of 1986, there were only two examples of this marking recorded—this is a third, earlier by two months than the previous earliest.
