Pkt./Dec/31/Paid" transit in red, plus red boxed "Aachen 13 1 Franco" and manuscript blue "23 cents" all on front; receivers on reverse, all dated Jan 14, include Frik (Frick) and Aarau BP+BA railway postmarks, rate via British mails was 23¢ (5¢ U.S. inland, plus 18¢ sea and British transit); the trisected stamp was accepted as equal to 3¢, Very Fine, a most unusual franking.
