SG £8,500 ($13,180).
Estimate $3,000 - 4,000

A very collectable example of this exceedingly rare stamp. 10,000 sheets of 240 subjects were printed in anticipation of a rate change. 1,036 of those sheets were overprinted Specimen for distribution to postmasters. When the change failed to go into effect as planned, 8,962 sheets were destroyed. Of the two remaining sheets, one was the Imprimatur or registration sheet, and would have gone into the archives. A block of 20 of the remaining sheet was shown at the 1867 Paris Exposition, leaving only 220 examples for collectors.
