143 61b image1921, 2c carmine, double overprint (Scott 61b), slightly disturbed o.g., Very Fine, both overprints aligned vertically and very close together, this is the scarce of the two versions of this error and only 10 examples are thought to exist and most of those in pairs with the normal overprint. Over all Canal Zone Stamps theorizes that only 40 to 60 examples this error exist in either form.

These stamps were prepared for use, but never issued as the US decided to only use US overprinted stamps. Approximately 600 sets were sent to Panama to be sent to the UPU at Berne Switzerland, but they fell into the hands of the Panamanian stamp dealers. Canal Zone Stamps considers them to be essays and identifies them as 69.A through 69.G, nevertheless they are still a very scarce grouping
