An extraordinary showpiece from the "Dartmouth College" find in 1950. A remarkable folded letter as described in Stanly Ashbrook's notes "This cover is guaranteed genuine by the undersigned - Stanley B. Ashbrook, Jun 9, 1950. The stamp comes from position #9 according to the latest plating of the copper plate. This cover was found in the early part of 1950 in the library of Dartmouth College at Hanover state, New Hampshire, USA. The student who discovered the cover was doing some research work classifying some old documents which had been left to a church in Hanover; Prior to this time this cover has never been in a private collection. Signed Stanley B. Ashbrook, Fort Thomas, Kentucky, USA".

A classic American cover of exhibition quality deserving placement in a collection of distinction. Of the 52 Brattleboro provisionals that are known to exist there are approximately 20 stamps and 19 covers; a rare opportunity to acquire one of the finest known examples which just so happens to come with a great story., Very Fine, 1950 P.F. certificate.
