2568   image1869, 12¢ S.S. Adriatic, vignette upon which the 12¢ stamp is based on an uncirculated Citizens' Bank of Louisiana $10 "Dixie" Bank Note printed by the National Bank Note Co. A fabulous piece of collateral for an 1869 specialist from the remainder of these gorgeous bank notes. The reverse of which expresses the value as "Dix" (French for "Ten") and is believed to be the origin of the term "Dixie" when referring to the American South.

These notes can sell for more than $1,000 when encapsulated and graded by one of the coin grading services.
