1521   imageNetherlands, 1938, First flight Amsterdam-Pretoria and returned, registered cover with seven Netherlands stamps tied by multiple Dec. 5, 1938 circular datestamps, adjacent Pretoria Dec. 12, 1938 arrival; refranked in South Africa with nine stamps on reverse, and tied by multiple Dec. 15, 1938 circular datestamps, adjacent Amsterdam Dec. 31, 1938 arrival. Once the cover was received in The Netherlands, it was forwarded to the U.S. via the China Clipper that operated through the Pacific Ocean. Therefore three Hong Kong adhesives were added in transit and tied in February, 1939. We noted two Indianapolis receiving postmarks. Interesting usage, rarely offered at auction, Fine to Very Fine.
