Offered intact as received from an estate executor, after many decades forgotten in a vault, mounted in an album with many listed varieties and some duplication; starting with 1871 Issue, including 5c tete-beche pair & 5c strip of three with tete-beche pair, plus 10c & 20c imperforate pairs, followed by 1873 Issue 4r x3 & 1p x3 (5-6), followed by 1875 Liberty & 1878 Indian Woman Issues, and then by 1879 Quetzal imperforate proofs (15-16), plus 1881 provisionals. The 1881 Quetzal Issue includes a set of imperforate proofs & 2c, 5c & 20c rare inverted centers (22a & 25a mint & 23a used), 1886 Rail Bond Issue with singles, pairs & blocks of four depicting innumerable surcharge varieties, 1886 Lithographed Issue, 1886 Second Provisional Issue, 1886-1890 Large Quetzal imperforate proof in pairs & singles, 1894-98 Provisionals and 1897 Central American Exposition set, including scarce imperforate proofs in vertical pairs. The 20th Century section starts with some provisionals, followed by 1902 Waterlow examples, followed by provisional stamps issued in the 1903-20 period, plus some covers. In five volumes, a superb collector's collection, with the first volume, 1871-1944 in a Schaubek hingeless album and then onto 4 Lighthouse hingeless albums, which are complete mint from 1945-1977. The first volume is largely mint, with the used items mostly limited to some pre-1922 issues, mostly some of the difficult"crown of St Stephen" and Turul types. There are literally dozens of highlights here, as the collection is substantially complete, with better early sets, 7-12 VF o.g. official reprint set, 1-6 used, long runs of mint sets, actually hundreds in all, comprehensive semi-postals, airs and dues, plus an exceptional holding of Occupation issues, which are largely complete, plus Western Hungary etc. Not too much to improve upon here, a superb, tip-top collection, inspection invited.

2218 o   imageIceland, Spectacular Used Collection, 1873-1995. A valuable, virtually intact collection in a Ka-Be hingeless album (pages to 1998); very nearly complete to 1973 then scattered (1990-95 period mint), with the only missing stamps of any significance being #1 & 5, the rarest "Í GILDI" overprints and the "Hópflug Ítala" overprints, we even note #31a, 32b & O1; there are a few early favor cancels and a couple revenue cancels and, of course, most of the best stamps have small faults, but there are plenty of Fine to Very Fine $200-400 stamps, and the 20th century is just about all clean and Fine to Very Fine. A great lot, worthy of a careful inspection.
