220   imageGermany, 1897, Godard Record Balloon Flight card, colorful picture postcard for the 1897 Leipzig Fair featuring a Godard-Surcouf Balloon tethered above the Fairgrounds and bearing a violet handstamp giving details of the record ascent for a free balloon of 24h 15m at a maximum altitude of 3,340m and covering a distance of 1,665km. The address side of the card bears Fair label and datestamps of the Fair's Balloon Station (19 Oct) and of Tarnau, Poland (21 Oct), one of the towns overflown by the balloon, Very Fine, exceedingly rare.
