2222 /   Great Britain, Postal Strike Collection, 1971. In a stock book, including several undelivered covers to the United States, followed by a wealth of sets, first day covers and some souvenir sheets, Very Fine.
Estimate $400 - 600

The strike was Britain's first national postal strike and began after postal workers demanded a pay rise of 15-20% then walked out after Post Office managers made a lower offer. The strike began on 20 January and lasted for seven weeks, finally ending with an agreement on Thursday 4 March. After voting over the weekend, the strikers returned to work on Monday 8 March 1971.

2227 /   Great Britain: Channel Islands - Lihou Island, Archival Holding. An unusual holding recommended for expansion for an exhibition collection or a dealer, containing all aspects of this specialized area including covers, picture postcards, stamps, souvenir sheets & imperforate proofs. We noted 1966-67 first day covers, 1969 covers related to the last day of G.P.O. jurisdiction over the mails, 1971 postal strike covers and picture postcards. There is also a folder loaded with single stamps, sheets & part sheets, plus a small box with promotional material, souvenir sheets and four sets of imperforate proofs printed by Harrison & Sons, and including 2d Map, 4d Ruins of Chapel, 6d Young People with pick and shovel, 1s Monks on boats & 2s Armorial Ensign of Lihou. Inspection recommended for full appreciation and the first that we have seen of this, Very Fine.
