The second post card also sent from Smyrna to Montreal, this time with Scott #26 and a view of the Smyrna waterfront.

1446 27 imageFrench Offices in the Turkish Empire, 1868, folded lettersheet from Salonica to Lyon (Scott 27), with an attractive single usage, franked with France Scott #27 with dotted lozenge 5084 cancel, as well as PD (paid to destination) and manuscript Clyde (name of the paquebot) all on face. Sent to Lyon via "Les Dardanelles-Turquie" 23rd September 1868, then on to "Marseille A Lyon" 29th September before finally arriving in Lyon the same day. An unusual single usage, correctly rated cover, a very nice example; minor cover folds, otherwise Very Fine.

1447   imageFrench Offices in the Turkish Empire, 1898, Boxing Day registered cover from Constantinople to Paris, France, an eye-catching cover which has been opened for exhibition on three sides, franked with Scott #2 in combination with Scott #78, consisting of 3 single 5cts with millesimes, as well as two horizontal pairs including interpanneau and two singles on reverse, with the stamps on the back arranged to ensure the cover would not be tampered with during transit; with "Constantinople 26 Dec. 98 Turquie" postmark and arriving 29th December with "Paris Etranger 29 Dec 98 Chargements", on reverse. A very attractive and unusual exhibition item, full of character with its own story to tell, Very Fine.
