82 17, 17b, 17c & vars. imagePalestine, 1920, 1st Jerusalem Overprint, 2m blue green, perf 15 x 14 (SG 17, 17b, 17c & vars.), the reportedly unique block of 114 comprising the top half of the sheet (less the right hand horizontal strip of six in the tenth horizontal row) with complete selvedge on three sides; the original post office sheet, which includes the two vertical rows that were removed and destroyed by the post office only minutes after the stamps went on sale, due to the overprint errors in these two rows; this block contains seven Arabic "Z" errors (SG 17b @ £950, positions 1, 25, 37, 49, 61, 73), six transposed Hebrew letters (SG 17c @ £950, pos. 11, 35, 47, 54, 71, 83), four withdrawn type 13 (pos. 13, 85, 97, 109), and two withdrawn type 23 (23, 95); wonderfully fresh mint, o.g., all but five stamps are never hinged (pos. 107, 109, 110, 113, 114); overprint shifted upward slightly so that horizontal perforations bisect the Arabic line, some separation and last half-row of 6 folded under, still a Very Fine and magnificent showpiece., Ex Sacher.

99   imageArgentina: Corrientes, 1867-74, two covers with regular postage used to pay postage due, 1.) 1867 (c.) folded letter to the capital of Corrientes franked with (2c) black on yellow (5) pen cancelled, manuscript "2cs" due marking alongside, with an additional (2c) black on yellow applied as Due (double rate cover, no penalty for deficient postage) and tied by distinctive nine bar grid; and 2.) 1869-74 (c.) cover probably from Bella Vista to Caa Cati readdressed to Corrientes franked with (2c) black on yellow (5) pen cancelled, "2c" due marking in red crayon, with a second (2c) black on yellow (damaged at top left) applied as Due (either for double rate or forwarded cover, no penalty charged) cancelled by nine bar grid. An interesting pair of covers demonstrating that Corrientes was one of the Latin American pioneers of the Postage Due system adopting Definitives to collect postal charges, 1997 Moorhouse certificates for both.
