197 J4 imageFrance, Postage Due, 1863, 15c black, typo (Scott J4), on small envelope franked with a defective, previously used 20c blue in an effort to defraud the post but caught and penalized with the 15c Due tied by one of two strikes Meaux c.d.s., 31 Mar 1866, envelope endorsed in manuscript "Taxée pour timbre ayant déjà servi" (taxed for stamp previously have done service); "Procès-Verbal" for the postal fraud accompanies the envelope, the Postage Due and envelope have pinholes, nevertheless a Very Fine example of how the postal authorities treated fraud.
