11168 54b imageGerman Colonies: Cameroun, 1915, Kaiser's Yacht, ½pf on 5pf black surcharge on green (Scott 54b), The certificate mentions the overprint is a very dark blackish shade of blue and follows the opinion of Robert M. Gibbs in his book of British occupation mentions "…Scott lists this stamp as existing with black overprint, but I doubt its existence. The [Marquis de] Bute collection contained a variety described as mint with a double overprint, one in black and one in blue. I have never seen any other reference to this stamp and it has yet to be authenticated.", o.g., lightly hinged, certainly a conversation piece and the best example of this stamp we have encountered; rounded corner at lower left, Very Fine, with 2014 Sismondo certificate.
