1897-98 Experimental Separations Rouletted in Black & Perf 12½,13 1d red SG 260 tied to local cover - a bit aged - by Brisbane duplex of 23MY/10, a few toned perf tips, Cat £95 x10+ on cover. A very rare franking. [The late usage suggests a philatelic origin. However, the Type 9 duplex is recorded 1899-1907 only & we suggest that the year slug '01' was inserted upside-down, which was quite a common occurrence]

1903 New Denomination Four Figures 9d coral-pink imperforate plate proof BW #Q43(E)1A on ungummed watermarked paper, margins close to good, Cat $2500+. Apparently the imperf proofs were printed only in this colour. Most of the plate proofs, in various colours, were perforated. [The ACSC states "Many of the proofs are defaced with pen-lines", as was the case with Colonel Harrie Evans' and Sir Gawaine Baillie examples. This may be the only non-defaced example we have offered]

The design was not approved. Instead the 9d 'COMMONWEALTH' design intended to be issued by all the States was selected.
