1877 cover to Ireland "via Brisbane" with 16mm 'GNRP/NSW' superb cancel on DLR 6d & very fine double-circle 'GNRP/JY10/1877/NSW' cds alongside, Sydney transit of the next day plus Irish 'LONGFORD' & 'LANESBOROUGH /SE17/77' arrival b/s, minor blemishes. [Colin Tabeart states that the Eastern & Australian 'Brisbane' departed Sydney 10.9.1877 - which must be an error for 11.9.1877 - via Torres Strait, then per 'Pekin' ex Singapore 4.8.1877; arrived Southampton 14.9.1877. The P&O dates simply don't conform to this cover] The illustration is above Lot 441.

1882 Large Chalons "Set" of 2/- x4 - one with the rarely seen '...WILKINSON & CO BANK NOTE ENGRAVER...' imprint below) & 2/6d Imperf Plate Proof singles in the approved colours for the five values, a few small separation faults. Rare. [The inclusion of the 2/6d in green is consistent with Basset Hull's statement at page 158 that this was the only colour in which the 2/6d was printed, and that there was no 2/- in this colour. Bernie Manning's similar very fine set - none with the imprint - sold for $4194. NB: the proofs were printed in London; the imprint was burnished-off the plates before the stamps were printed in Brisbane] (5)
