Mexico, 1864, Eagle (1st Period), 4r green, without district overprint. Block of 15, o.g., never hinged (gum skips at right affecting two stamps), fresh with
rich color, large margins all around, Extremely Fine, the largest known block of the 4r 1st Period Eagle issue without overprint, with 2010 M.E.P.S.I. certificate. Scott No. 24b; Estimate $750 - 1,000.
This block is
not to be confused with the common remainder/reprints. The main differences on the 4r is the darker color and that the design height is 1mm taller than the remainder issues. A block of 4 of the remainder issue accompanies this lot for comparison.
