2462 o/      imageMexico, 1864-66 Eagle Issue Balance. 20 covers and 15 on and off piece items, mostly on display pages with many beautiful cancels; nine covers bear stamps having sub-consignment numbers and nine of the other items do as well, some rare including 2r Guadalajara with Zapotlan name (sub number indistinct) tied on cover by S. Gabrriel (Schatzkes 444, Taylor 46/1), most impressive of the pieces has Veracruz 1r 26-1866 and 2r 58-1866 tied together by boxed Soledad (Schatzkes 1800, Taylor 42/2) and much underrated by both), two unoverprinted 1st Period 1r are tied together by Maravatio (Schatzkes 719, Taylor 1/5), pair ½r Guanajuanto 58-1865 sub 56 cancelled with pinwheel mute of Leon on fresh cover, two covers bear 4r stamps, one Mexico sent to France (faulty with cert.) while a Veracruz is tied to a (much nicer) "Por Extraordinario" cover to Mexico; the specialist will enjoy this interesting and diverse group, generally F.-V.F. or better.

With both thick and thin paper stamps, total of 27 stamps including three 8r (Sc #40), three 1/2r gray (Sc #42), five 1r blue (Sc #43), 2 beautiful 4r rose (Sc#44) and one large 4r yellow printed on both sides (Sc #38a) with 2015 G. Todd certificate (NF $1,700+), generally F.-V.F. or better.

2466 o/      imageMexico, 1868 Full Face Hidalgo Issue Balance. 24 covers and 3 fronts, most mounted for exhibition, 21 of which are from sub offices, one has two 6c and a 12c Guadalajara tied together by Nochistlan and another has 50c Queretaro 12-69 tied by S. Juan Del Rio, fancy Alamos (tying 25c Ures) on front is probably the best cancel (Schatzkes 1733), eleven of twelve on and off piece items have sub-office cancels, a 6c Toluca 16-70 perf'd pair, an 1871 stampless from Progreso (Merida district) bears a beautiful official handstamp perfectly struck, generally Very Fine.

2467 /o/    48//70 imageMexico, 1868 Full Face Hidalgo Issue Balance. Of 9 small town covers with well-struck cancels, 9 Black on Brown 100c stamps, 11 Blue on Rose 25c stamps and two very handsome large combinations on piece, covers are from Zacoalco, Ahuacatlan, Peñón Blanco (manuscript cancel), El Mezquital, Villa Guerrero, Tula de Tamaulipas, Tepatitlan, San Juan del Rio and Soyaniquilpam, one of the pieces has five 25c stamps from Nochistlan, the other from Guanajuato has 16 stamps including two 100c and two 50c, 100c stamps singles include 2 Mepsi certificates (unused Pachuca 17-69 and used Durango 22-69), also included in the 100c is a used pair, unused Mexico 1-69, Merida 19-69, rare Tula 35-71 and Saltillo 30-69 (NF for the nine 100c alone is $ 1,455), overall Very Fine.

Attractive collection of 22 covers, a front & part cover and 25 off cover items (including a 6c Tula/Nopales block of four), mostly mounted for exhibition and most from different sub-offices, notable are covers with 25c 5-73 I. Del Carmen tied Laguna and 25c Cuautitlan 13-72 tied Zupango (Schatzkes 281, Taylor 7/4), 12c C. Victoria pair tied Santa Barbara (Schatzkes 1823, Taylor 17/2), 25c SLP 37-73 tied by blue Dr. Arroyo (Schatzkes 873 Monterrey District), and 25c SLP 37-74 tied by "Diligencias Generales De Tula"; cancels throughout tend to be superior strikes, generally Very Fine.

2469 /o/    105//122 imageMexico, Hidalgo Profile Issue Collection, 1874-83. Extensive collection/accumulation (duplication) of over 4,500 stamps plus covers well organized by district in five binders, most districts are represented including such difficult as Cuautitlan, Texcoco, Tlaxcala, etc., some cancel interest and an occasional error, watermarked includes a 50c (Scott 115 - $450), about 120 of 4c, 460+ of 50c and around 400 100c issues present, includes quite a few pages of material from the Walter Widmeier Collection (annotated in German) but most are on Hagner pages with English notes on tags, Scott c.v. will exceed $26,000 and of course there are many stamp worth considerable premiums; condition generally quite nice, one of the most extensive collections of this issue we have ever offered.

2470       imageMexico, 1874 Hidalgo Issue Balance. 28 covers mounted for exhibition plus 26 others (most also mounted) and another 22 covers not part of the exhibit and a couple of fronts, most bear different sub-office cancels; includes strip official three 50c Puebla 2082 (thin paper) canceled Huejotzingo (Taylor 25/4), Atoyac (on 10c C. Guzman 4379) must be quite scarce (Taylor GD-13/1) as must be Choix (Taylor MZ-9/1) on a 100c Mazatlan, 10c entire 1375 canceled Tepexi Del Rio, 100c Chiapas 4080 tied on cover by oval Comitan, 25c Mexico tied on cover to New York with "Ship" and "Due 3" handstamps, etc., generally Very Fine.

2471 /o      imageMexico, 1874-83 Hidalgo Issue Collection/Accumulation. Of well over 1,500 stamps and several covers mostly sorted by district (of which 56 are represented including Soyaniquilpan, Tacubaya, Texcoco, etc.) on Vario pages, good variety, duplication is mostly in the 5c-25c values - a minor part of the value, unchecked for watermarks, some cancel interest, there are at least thirty five 4 centavos, about 110 50 centavos and over 100 100 centavos, each count including some on thin paper; Scott catalog value will safely exceed $5,700, with better districts adding significant value.

2472 /o      imageMexico, 1879-83 Foreign Mail Issue Collection. Of over 1,400 mostly different neatly mounted by district (all represented) and year in five Elbe albums, includes mint, postally used and remainder cancelled with some varieties present more than one way; the 50c 100c mint or remainder cancelled are present for nearly all districts, sometimes for more than one year, many of these where printed in very small quantities (25-100 stamps) and are desirable in any condition (for many, postally used do not exist), rare postally used include 12c Texcoco 1182, an 85c (382), three 25c on thin paper, 50c green thin paper (383), three 50c yellow (382, 2782, 5483), two 100c orange (2682, 3782), and two 100c black (5383), some duplication but often for such differences as style, color of district name or cancel, with and without name, etc., few blacks, Scott (counting remainder/doubtful cancels as mint) will exceed $21,000, this is a carefully built collection with condition generally above the norm and would be an excellent basis for further expansion.

Five attractive covers with different frankings and cancels, a 2c (Scott 146) tied to domestic use front, a 3c +2c postal card to Hannover, piece with three U.S. Banknotes tied by "Franco En Vapor" (steamship) cancels, and five other pieces with different stamps tied by town cancels - Guerrero (Sonora), Ameca, Angangueo, Huetamo and Nazas, generally Very Fine, a lovely group.

2474     123//149 Mexico, 1879-1883 Foreign Mail Issue Balance. Interesting group of 19 covers or fronts plus three used postal cards (one uprated with a 3c stamp), including several items that would be extraordinary individual lots if the condition were better, one mixed franking with U.S. 2¢ has 3c and 1c habilitados while a May 1884 registered front bears 10c 1884 issue plus 6c and 24c Foreign Mail issues, a strip of three of 2c Scott #132 with red Durango name is tied to a front by S. Dimas ovals, and another front has 3c 483 pair tied by Bronces oval, a 6c 383 is used on a return receipt, 6c 482 is tied to cover by Soyopa oval (faint), another cover bears 1c & 5c Campeche habilitados, Wells Fargo front usage (missing U.S. stamp), etc.; few are free of faults - were all as nice this would be worth many times the estimate, Fine.

Eleven exhibit pages showing an excellent variety of cancels on ten covers (one registered), two express entires, four postal cards and 28 other items (stamps, pieces), among the scarcer is a violet oval Piaxtla (Taylor SIN 43/3) tied a 5c to cover, 5c postal card canceled with administrator's seal (fancy) of Canitas (Taylor ZAC 5/1), Puerto Angel (OAX 53/5) is also quite scarce, as is Petatlan, Guerrero, there is a page of mute cancels, couple of railroad cancels, but more impressive is a 10c cancelled J.V. Comfort, Steamer City of Sydney, generally F.-V.F.
