3176       imageWorldwide, Olympic Grunewald Stadium, 1913. Privately order 5pf postal card showing the Grunewald Stadium in Berlin with unused Inaugural label affixed, card with small corner clipped, otherwise Very Fine.

The I.O.C. at the 1912 Stockholm games awarded Berlin the site of the 6th Olympiad. Work on the stadium, the Deutsches Stadion ("German Stadium"), began in 1912 at what was the Grunewald Race Course. It was planned to seat more than 18,000 spectators. On 8 June 1913, the stadium was dedicated with the release of 10,000 pigeons. 60,000 people were in attendance. The games for the 6th Olympiad were later cancelled due to World War I.

A small accumulation mounted on exhibition pages, all neatly written up covering the 1920 Olympics in Antwerp, a variety of material represented which includes issued stamps, commemorative covers and postmarks, plus more, included is a real photo card showing USA's Aileen Riggin & Finland's Niklas Skoglund with their signatures, Riggin won the 1st Women's Olympic Springboard Diving title and Skoglund was the 1920 Silver Medalist in the Plain High Diving, a great lot for the specialist and careful inspection is a must, Very Fine.

Droil's Olympic poster with note saying, "Seeing lots of good races.", Printed I.O.C. invitation (some wear) signed by Pierre de Coubertin (President of the I.O.C. and Founder of the Modern Olympic Games), Uruguay, 1924 Winged Victory Set commemorating the Olympic Soccer victory (Mint set & Commemorative cover), plus many more, a great lot for the specialist and careful inspection is a must, Very Fine.
