Worldwide Public Auction - January 31, 2019

Auction 348 is huge with 7,420 lots, catering for all types of collectors & dealers - from bulk accumulations and intact collections to desirable single items. This auction offers a huge range of material, with special emphasis on lotting stamps to cater for collectors with varying types of interests and budgets. Items range from $30 to $80,000 so there's something for everybody. This auction offers strong representation of Australia & Colonies, strong British Empire material of all areas & periods, as well as General Foreign including small and large collections. There are nearly 300 lots of Australian Collections (Lots 102-348) and almost 400 lots of World collections (Lots 349-720).

Following on there is over 2000 lots of Australia which consist of singles, sets and covers including Australian colonies (Lots 782-2818). The Australian lots cover all periods, from the Kangaroo issues up to Decimal and contains numerous number of mint & used £1 & £2 top values - this includes a C of A Watermark £2 Black & rose Ash imprint pr, inc variety 'open mouthed Kangaroo' at right' (R55). F-VF fresh MLH, with nice original gum & deep colours. SG 138(var). ACSC 58Aza cat $25,000. Very rare & desirable ex Sir Gwaine Baillie collection.(Lot 991). There are almost 4,300 lots of World stamps, covers and single country collections (Lots 2819-7157) with the British Empire well represented, highlighted by a Zululand 1894-96 QV Tablet £5 purple & black on red top value. Stamp superb fresh MUH, LR cnr marginal with pristine never hinged original gum, fantastic original colour. SG 29 cat £5500, should be at least double, £11,000 MUH. Great rarity in genuine MUH condition & certainly the best quality example in existence.(Lot 7157) Numerous other European and Asian rarities as well.
