Schlegel Sale - 21

Worldwide Public Auction - November 20-22, 2017

Sometimes there are moments that even make experienced philatelists breathless. That happened to us when the LEGENDARY ¼-GROSCHEN-FRANKING OF THE GRAND DUCHY OF OLDENBURG (lot 5740) was handed to us four our auction. For 50 years it stayed securely in a safe, but now the new owner will get excited about this great rarity which can only be contained in one other collection as there are only two covers known.

If you want to build a challenging collection of Poland, there are two essential issues: the popular "POLAND NO. 1“ and the KRAKOW ISSUES which is represented by several lots including very rare covers (lots 4896 to 4928). We are proud to offer a single franking of the first stamp of Poland naming a prominent PROVENANCE MIKULSKI and can yet annouce more lots oft hat provenance in our future auctions. If you study our catalogues you’ll find a WIDE OFFER OF COVERS especially of german areas. The German Reich shows more than 1.400 single lots of all valences including a number of searched FDC of the Third Reich.

But the european areas are showing strength as well, France with a number of high-value lots of the classic era but the "Île de France“ (lot 4054) too. Some of the big rarities of Italy and the italian States are waiting for new owners, let us mention the ERROR OF COLOUR "AUGUSTO VIOLETTO“ (Lot 4390). We look forward to seeing you at our sale and wish you success with your bids!
