Ankunft 11.2.07, Pracht, geprüft Bothe BPP - Unseres Wissens das frühest bekannte Verwendungsdatum dieses außerordentlich seltenen Seepoststempels - August Schmerenbeck (1853-1930) erwarb im Januar 1893 aus Regierungsbesitz ein privates Grundstück in
Windhuk an der Kaiserstraße (heute Independence Avenue). Neben seinem Geschäfts- und Wohnhaus baute er ein besonderes Gebäude, das er der Postverwaltung zur Verfügung stellte. Neben seinen anderen Geschäften betrieb er auch Vieh- und Pferdetransporte
und übernahm auf Grundlage eines Vertrages mit der Kaiserlichen Post Mitte der neunziger Jahre den Betrieb der sogenannten "Karrenpost" für die Postbeförderung. Die Beförderungsdauer von Windhuk nach Swakopmund betrug etwa 10 Tage. (alter Ausruf
